Robert Belcher Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.

This chair was upholstered to a high standard a few years ago but shows very little sign of wear to its green chenille velvet which is piped in a slightly lighter shade. The frame is in good solid condition.

The chair stands on superb carved walnut ball and claw cabriole front legs with a shell and harebell carved to the knee. The rear legs are plain with a pad foot but have a wonderfully drawn sweep which you only see on the best period examples.

This chair is a rare fine copy and is in good structural condition with no breaks or repairs to the legs. The upholstery is in very good condition with no marks or damage, however, it could be recovered to your own taste.
