Down the side of either side of the flask is a polished curved piece of period tortoiseshell, this is a tactile piece once in one's hand, you just want to hold it. A good weighty piece at 10.27 Troy Ounces / 310.7 Grams.

The lid has a twist and lift action to open. There are several marks including makers initials AKO and the Bird's head (1=935 and W for Vienna); it also has a 935 silver stamp, a higher grade than sterling silver.
