A fine and dramatic Post-Impressionist still life oil painting on canvas laid to board. The painting shows a bottle with fruit, an onion and a plant on a chequered cloth. There is a great use of dramatic colour in reds, oranges, purple and mauve in thick impasto paint. The work is signed J.M.Green and is by John M. Green (1917-2005) a Nottinghamshire artist who exhibited nationally and locally. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is mounted in a superb period painted frame. The work is numbered on the back, something the artist did and the early number dates the work to his earlier period.
