Beautiful little Scottish domestic mahogany longcase regulator by,
The dome top surmounted by a very unusual stags head. The SILVERED brass dial engraved with Roman numerals, and having fine blued steel hands and a date and seconds ring.
Engraved with the retailer Whytock & Son.
Wytock & Son were high-end retailers from about 1853. Their address in 1877 was 46 High Street, Dundee. They were eventually incorporated in the Mappin & Webb group and had two silver marks with the Glasgow assay office.
The trunk with rounded reeded corners and door with crossbanding to fine flame veneer. Base also crosbanded.
The striking eight day movement being deadbeat, with maintaining power.
Very original case and movement, probably dating to around 1870. Beautiful colour and proportions.
Dial 12.5" and stands 85" tall
