Description

Fantastic original Art Deco porcelain box of a bathing beauty flapper girl. Made of porcelain and finished with lustre glazes, she has an exquisite face and is modelled as if lying on a beach (the lid) surrounded by waves (the base of the box). Measuring 8" wide (20,3 cm), 6-1/4" long (15,8 cm) and 7" high (17,8 cm). Condition is excellent. There is slight wear of the lustre glaze and there is a small firing crack (manufacturing flaw) in the edge of the box which can't be seen when the lid is in place . Apart from that she is perfect: no chips, no cracks or hairlines and no repairs or restoration. She is marked on the underside of the lid with the number 1416 1 and a gold painted "D" and a monogram A.B. on the lid (probably the designer). Much larger than normal boxes of this type, see dimensions.
