Belgian Cast Iron Heraldic Coat of Arms Shield

This Coat Armorial is very heavy piece, it is made cast in iron, it would originally have been wall hung by a large loop on the back

It has the Motto “L'union fait la force” (UNITY MAKES STRENGTH) and at the very bottom “Brevet d’invention” indicating it to would have belonged to a commercial institution

This is a superb piece dating from the mid 19th Century, it is painted mainly in Age Darkened Gold, the paint is only slightly worn

The Plaque is 23.5” high, 20” wide and 10” deep, and very heavy
