Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.
This one actually retains a few visiting cards from the past owner " Mrs Leslie A. Evett " of Clifton, Bristol, a very smart address.

The case is hallmarked for Birmingham 1887, together with the makers mark H & A for Horton & Allday, a good Victorian example. This card case comes complete with it's original leather presentation case lined with velvet and cream silk. The silk is gold printed with the retailer's mark for the very famous and illustrious " Mappin Brothers / 220 Regent St / 66 Cheapside / London " above this is the Royal Warrant with " By Her Majestys Special Appointment " underneath.
Excellent condition measuring 3 7/8" x 2 3/4" with the presentation case measuring 5" x 4".
