Description
Size: 3ft 11in x 4ft 2in (120 x 128cm). A good Persian sofreh (eating cloth) by the Afshar tribe, these were placed on the ground for food to be served on or in some cases for the preparation of bread. Circa 1900/20. This example is woven with a mixture of plain flat weave, weft work and some soumak. The central panel is of bold design with wonderful use of colour.
