This Antique teak brass bound travelling strongbox was made circa 1870.

It would have been used by a British officer or family to transport uniforms clothes and valuables around the East on wagons and ships as they took often arduous and dangerous journeys.

This example has the brass bound corners that were inset into this antique chest but also not to make them look attractive but add strength to keep the chest stable and secure for its important use.
