Description

Very impressive Edwardian era tall French marble top chest of drawers c.1905. Original shaped marble top with good figuring and a thumb moulded edge. Over a chest of five large drawers of useful depth. Beautiful burr elm veneered drawer fronts with kingwood crossbanding, ebony stringing and original ormolu handles cast as laurel wreaths. Flanked with long columns with ormolu mounts top and bottom. Rounded sides veneered to match and inlaid with exceptional marquetry work decoration of Classical urns and rope swags in contrasting timbers with mother of pearl detail. Raised on a shaped plinth, also veneered in elm. Solid oak drawer linings. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops.
