Late C19th George III period mahogany drop-leaf Pembroke ''Deception'' table. Interesting Georgian mahogany Pembroke style drop-leaf table with concealed cupboard behind false drop-leaf . Probably designed as a bedside or chamber table in which to conceal a pot . The interior with a division.Attributed to Gillows of Lancaster from whom a design appears in the '' Gillow Estimate Sketch Books '' for June /July 1787 (Westminster City Archives 94/44-5) . A similar table is illustrated in ''Gillow Furniture Designs 1760-1800'' by Lindsay Boynton .Raised a tapering square section legs , fitted with all original lacquered brass-ware .( Key lacking) .In excellent original condition with it''s original surface and skin .
