Description

A good example of a late 18th Century oak mule chest with panelled front and sides. The hinged lid opens to the large storage chest and below this is a single long drawer. It stands on simple block feet and has an attractive moulded plinth around the base.

It is in good condition throughout and is strong and sturdy with a beautiful rich patina. The planked back is clean and the hinges are strong. There have been some repairs to the hinges over time and they have been re-set but they are in good strong order now. The base of the drawer has been replaced at some point and it opens smoothly and has good quality brass ring pull handles. There are some old woodworm holes here and there around the bottom of the feet which have been treated as a precaution and there are various signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. It has been well looked after and maintained and is ready for use.
