A fine 'high' Victorian piece in excellent condition for its age, having a tall pole surmounted by a turned & removable cap finial, on a substantial spiral shaft and impressive foliate-carved tripod base on hipped and out-swept scroll legs & feet, fitted with a strikingly framed scroll-carved screen with needlework panel of roses and swags and having the original brass fittings, even though the rear board has been replaced, this magnificent walnut pole screen may only now serve a decorative purpose but will charm in the most elegant of period-furnished reception rooms, fully-deserving of the admiration it will surely attract.
O/All Height 165cm (65")
Screen Size 47.5cm x 43cm (18.75" x 17")
Footprint of Tripod Base 49.5cm x 43cm (19.5" x 17")
This is a genuine antique from c1860-80, so you may expect the mature character that only comes with considerable age but, although it has a replacement panel to the rear of the needlework screen, it is in excellent, clean & sound original condition, ready to take its place in your home.
