Description

Pretty miniature porcelain basket by Worcester Chamberlain & Co. with a sky blue ground and painted with a view or Worcester. Moulded acanthus leaf detail to the foot and folded around the rim of the basket. A similarly shaped modelling to the handle and the whole highlighted with gilded detail. It is marked to the back with the written red "Worcester Chamberlain & Co." mark with both 155 New Bond Street and 1 Coventry Street addresses, dating between c.1840 - 1844 (when the Coventry shop closed).

It measures just under 10cm (3 7/8") long by 7.5cm (3") wide and 6.5cm (2 1/2") high. Condition is very good but there has been some good restoration of the handle just above the join with the body. No damage and minimal surface wear.
