A Silent Escapement Good Inlaid Bracket Clock

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Overton Clocks of Chesterfield ltd

Description

A very good single fusee mahogany and inlaid bracket clock from around c1890.
This well proportioned clock is a pleasure to look at with its beautiful inlaid floral pattern with at least three different coloured woods, this is set off with brass receded columns to the corners. The case has been carefully cleaned to reveal it's original shellac finish that is of a high gloss finish, this clock has not been repolished. The clock is set nicely on brass ball feet and ball finials.
The 5" silvered dial is of a heavy cast brass manufacture and is numbered 5285. This number is repeated throughout the clock and movement and is also stamped on the bottom of the movement plates.
The substantially made movement is very unique in having a silent pinwheel escapement, maintaining detent and Brocot escapement. The components have been finished to a very high standard and the plates have been engine turned to create the pattern you see.
