Description
A trunk constructed mostly in cedar dating to approximately the middle of the 19th century, circa 1850. This very impressive antique has large and strong rope handles. With inlaid brass securing to the rope and a brass escutcheon of an anchor insignia. It is a highly unusual piece of historical furniture. The level of attention to detail is very high and there is plenty of useful storage space. The brass stars demonstrate the extra care and attention in the making of this piece. The anchor insignia points to a nautical theme and this may have been made for an important navy captain. Please see the nameplate on the inside of the lid.
