Military Campaign Style Folding Day Bed C.1870.

Description

Fantastic Victorian military campaign type day bed c.1870. Of ingenious design by Robinsons & Sons of Ilkley. Can be used flat or raised to various positions at both ends to make a very comfortable chaise longue or daybed. Designed to be portable, the frame hinges in the centre and the legs unscrew to take up minimum space in an officer’s baggage train. Sturdy pine frame with iron plates, freshly re-webbed to support loose seat cushions (not supplied). Turned legs retaining the original white porcelain castors with brass fittings. Stamped twice on the frame for Robinsons of Ilkley also featuring a nicely illustrated paper label on the underside. Very good condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. With a replacement screw thread to one of the legs.
