Rare 19th Century Welsh Carved Slate Folk Art Roundel Display

Description

A most unusual carved welsh slate 'fan' style piece of folk artwork, with geometrical patterns carved into the interior, stood on carved slate stand fixed by brass screw.

Pieces such as this were made by the quarrymen of wales in their spare time as gifts and to subsidise their incomes, all unique one off pieces usually. Minor damage to outside rim to the base as per photo, lovely polished patination. Good sculptural looking piece.
