Antique Longcase Clock

19th century
Description

A fine quality Georgian Regency period mahogany longcase clock. A 'London' case with arched hood pediment surmounted by 3 brass finials. Brass stopped fluted hood columns and side glass hood apertures. An arched trunk door and raised plinth moulding. A circular engraved silvered dial with date and seconds dials with blued steel hands. A London quality, 5-pillar mechanism of 8-day duration striking the hours on a bell.

Thomas Chapman of Gravesend is recorded in Loomes' 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working from 1823-1832.
