Antique 18th Century Oak Coffer

Description

A nice example of a mid to late 18th Century Oak Coffer. It is a traditional form, made of a simple panelled construction standing on four feet. It has a hinged lid with its original floor inside and internal candle box. It has avoided ever being overcarved and is a very pretty example with original tall feet and an ornate brass escutcheon.

It is in superb original condition and displays beautifully. There has been some minor repair work at the back by one hinge to strengthen in but it is strong and sturdy. There are general signs of age and use and small marks and knocks but nothing detrimental and it has developed a beautiful rich patina.
