An impressive 0.20 carat diamond and 0.48 carat sapphire, 0.08 carat ruby and 15 carat gold sweetheart pin brooch; part of our diverse antique jewellery and estate jewelry collections.
This fine 15ct gold Forces sweetheart pin brooch is the vintage emblem of the Northumberland Hussars Yeomanry*.
The brooch has a gemstone ornamented terminal and the crown is set with two rubies.
The circular border is set with eighteen calibre cut sapphires which encircle a design set with twenty-five Dutch and eight-cut diamonds.
There is a contemporary inscription to the reverse of the gold pin - '15CT From Lily 16.5.1925'
This fine pin is supplied with an independent gemstone and diamond grading report card.
* The Northumberland & Newcastle Volunteer Cavalry was formed in 1819 and was nicknamed 'the Noodles'.
In 1876 the Regiment changed its name to the Northumberland (Hussars) Yeomanry Cavalry and in 1908 the Regiment was incorporated into the Territorial Army.
The Hussars' involvement with horses came to an end in 1939, when the Regiment was reorganised as an Anti-Tank Regiment.
This impressive antique gemstone sweetheart brooch is fine quality set with rubies, sapphires and very well colour matched, very high colour graded old cut diamonds. The brooch is a very good gauge of gold and is in excellent condition, with a contemporary inscription to the reverse of the pin.
