In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
Inside, the box is fully lined with plush green velvet and has two fitted lift out trays with various sections for rings, bracelets etc and a large section below the trays for storing larger pieces. The lock is stamped 'Bramah', a top maker of the time, however we do not have a key.
The box is in good condition for its age. It has been well used but well looked after and has retained its natural aged look. The outer has some small age related knocks and scuffs and there are a few small areas of leather missing (see photos) but nothing detrimental. Inside it is generally clean and tidy and overall it displays very well and is certainly a nice usable item.
