Description

A particularly fine quality mid-Victorian "DWARF" BOOKCASE of glorious warm colour.

This superb bookcase, almost of exhibition quality, is primarily veneered in walnut, however the top is of beautifully figured burr amboyna wood, whilst the rounded corners are inlaid with faux amboya columns and amboyna panels. There are two adjustable walnut shelves (making three in total) and it is raised on a shaped plinth base. 48ins wide; 38ins high; 13ins deep. (122 x 96 x 33cms)

***Amboyna is a deciduous hardwood found mainly in SE Asia. It is a "premium" timber, used in high grade furniture and when thinly sliced, as decorative veneers in only the very finest quality 19th century pieces.
