Edwardian circular mahogany dining table

This Edwardian circular mahogany dining table was made circa 1910.

THE CHALKE VALLEY TABLE

Here we have our exclusive Chalke Valley dining table. This table closes circular and then winds out on a telescopic action to take 3 leaf insertions. This superb table can be used closed or with any combination of the extra leaves, making this a very versatile piece.

This Edwardian circular mahogany dining table winds out on a Joseph Fitter patent telescopic mechanism, you can use any combination of the leaves to make the table suit the number of guests.

The top with superb figured mahogany that makes the table very eye-catching

The table has a fine carved gadrooned edge, and each leaf has a skirt that makes the table look balanced when the leaves are in place.

This table has the exclusive Hingstons Antiques finish by our French polisher who uses the traditional methods when refinishing. The table is re-polished back to its former glory and then finally finished with a fine wax polish.

The table stands on square tapering legs running down the legs to the spade feet and with the original china castors below.

Imagine the conversations that would have been made when this table was first made. They could well have been about the shocking events of Dr Crippen, where he poisoned his wife before burying her in the cellar, or the nations sadness that King Edward VII death. More exciting news in the day would have been as Charles Rolls became the first man to make a non-stop double crossing of the English Channel. He is also the first British resident to make the crossing in a British-built plane.
