A Superb Quality, Solid Mahogany Medal Collectors Cabinet Attributed to Messrs Holland & Sons. Circa 1900.

Description

This beautiful, exhibition quality, 16 drawer medal collectors cabinet is attributed to one of the finest makers in the history of cabinet making in the british isles. This cabinet was supplied to the british museum circa 1900 and was used to protect and display prehistoric flint arrow heads but it's design makes it highly appropriate for the collection and display of many small objects, particularly, medals. The usable drawer depth of half an inch is very accommodating for such items.

Holland & sons were on an equal footing with gillows of lancaster and london regarding quality and design. Operating between 1803 and 1942 they specialised in commissions and were granted a royal warrent of appointment early in queen victoria's reign.

16 drawers, all base lined with burgundy baize and all in super original condition. The glazed door is fitted with working lock and key.
