Huge Japanese Bronze Elephant And Tiger Group Okimono - Genryusai Seiya

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this large scale Meiji period 1868-1912 , circa 1900 Bronze Elephant and Tiger Okimono by the highly regarded Japanese animalier specialist Genryusai Seiya , the artist has captured the all too familiar sight of a pair of marauding Tigers attacking an Elephant , however on this occasion it is likely the Tigers may come off second best, due to the sheer scale of this particular Pachyderm , the charging Elephant is fitted upon its original carved hardwood base , his skin finished in fantastic detail so typical of this particular artists foundry , his Ears and Tusks picked out in a reddish brown contrasting patination , the menacing Tigers again patinated in a smooth lighter finish with raised detailed striations, contrasting nicely against the rugged hide of the majestic beast , artist sealed to the underside , a fascinating large scale study that would grace a suitably themed room setting , or add to your Japanese...
