Antique Mahogany Linen Press

19th century
Description

Georgian inlaid mahogany linen press

This Georgian inlaid mahogany linen press was made in the first quarter of the 19th century.

It was made in a good workshop using Sheratons influence with the satinwood banding and the large decorative motif in the central panels of the doors.

The flared cornice with a fine dog tooth moulding under.

The pair of inlaid panel doors open to reveal a series of slides. Often clients like to take these out and we install a hanging bar across to make them into wardrobes.

Below the press top there is a chest with 2 half drawers at the top and a further 2 graduated drawers below. Each drawer with a good satinwood cross banding

It stands on shaped splay feet that are joined by a shaped apron, all have line boxwood stringing.

198cms high (78ins)

127cms wide (50ins) 132cms widest across cornice (52ins)

58cms deep (23ins)

All dimensions are approximate

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
