~~ Fully overhauled and tested ~~
A beautiful and early antique French cartel wall clock. It is well made of gilded brass in a bold Baroque style. The large enamel dial has a brass centre, original fretted blued steel hands and convex glass. I t is signed for the clockmaker / retailer 'Maillard'. Above the dial is a Baroque broken arch pediment and to the sides are stylised columns. The clock is decorated with mythical creatures and stylised foliage.
It is the large plate version of the 'Pendule De Paris' movement and is the earlier version having an outside bell hammer stop spring. The movement is in excellent clean and running order having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. It is complete with original pendulum. Duration of the movement is 8 days between winding and it sounds the hours and half-hours on a large sonorous bell. Below we have a video of the movement running and striking.

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some wear to the original gilding. The dial is also in excellent condition, there are just two faint hairlines, no chips or scratches.

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
