Very Large Regency Water-gilt Convex Mirror

19th century
Description

A very large and important early 19th century Regency period CONVEX MIRROR in excellent condition and retaining its original water gilding.

Surmounted by a carved and gilded eagle, perched on a rocky outcrop with acanthus leaves to either side, the large original mirror plate is framed by a reeded ebonised slip frame and the close-ball decorated concave border. To either side are candle-holders with hanging cut-glass drops whilst to the base is the carved and gilded acanthus leaf 'collar'.

A stunning and very impressive mirror. 50ins (127cms) tall; 28ins (71.25cms) wide excluding the candleholders.
