Description

A Near Pair of Yew Wood High Windsor Chairs by John Gabbitass, John was probably the first chair maker in the town of Worksop he started his workshop in 1822, after his death in 1839 his wife Elizabeth carried on the buisness until the late 1840s and then the firm carried on until the 1880s, this impressive pair of chairs date from c 1840, they have the crinolin stretcher, highly decorative back splats and very boldly turned legs and under arm spindles, they are in excellent condition and have a wonderfull colour and patina.
