Antique silver Lancashire Watch Company pocket watch retailed by H Stone of Leeds.

The watch has a key-wound movement which is working nicely and keeping good time to within around five minutes over 24 hours. The movement is stamped with the words 'reversing pinion', which is a device which prevents damage if the mainspring breaks. A winding key is included. The movement is protected by an inner fitted cover.

The watch measures 54mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Chester 1907 with a case maker's mark for Thomas Hewitt of the Lancashire Watch Company. Overall the case is in good condition, just a couple of small shallow “dings” to the back but nothing too serious at all.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The dial is signed with the name of the original retailer, H Stone, Leeds. Harris Stone came to the UK from Russia and ran his business from The Call in Leeds. He was listed as both a watchmaker and a retailer of watches manufactured by other factories, such as the example we have here. The dial is in good condition.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
