Grand Mahogany Boxed 7 Piece Stag Antler Handled Carving Set

Description

One of the grandest carving sets I have come across in a wonderful large mahogany box with the original working key and an inlaid brass cartouche to the lid, which could be engraved if desired.

There are seven pieces including two stunning knife rests. The ferrules are not hallmarked so I assume they are silver plated rather than sterling. They are made by Allen 7 Darwin in the late nineteenth century, around 1880, so a true Victorian example.

The box interior is outstanding with silk and velvet lining. All in excellent near pristine condition with the large box measuring 19" x 11" and the large knife measuring 16" long.
