Unusual Antique English Brass Double Inkwell and Double Postage Stamp Box - Victorian

Description

A most unusual Victorian desk-top double postage stamp box with an inkwell in the centre.

Made from brass, it stands on it's four original bun feet with a continual acanthus leaf relief decoration around the top of the inkwell lid and top and bottom of the box. The box at the top slants forward making it easy to retrieve a postage stamp from either of the hinged chambers.

The inkwell retains it's glass liner and rather nice that the lid snaps shut securely.

Dating to around 1880, this stylish desk accessory is in excellent condition measuring 5 1/4" wide x 3 1/4" deep x 2 1/2" tall at rear.
