Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the Before 1700 period.
As with most needlework of the period, it depicts a religious scene. Here we see Abraham casting out Hagar (his second wife) and Ishmael (his son by Hagar). Various animals are also depicted including: a rabbit; hound; stag and birds etc., whilst a number of other figures can be found. In a later Victorian bird's eye maple frame. 17.5 x 13.5ins (44x33cms) including the frame.
