The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1930s.
The watch has a 15-jewel hand-winding movement, signed Longines, which is working nicely. The serial number 5420751 dates it back to 1936.
The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the articulated lugs.

The watch glass is in good condition.
The dial is signed Longines and it also has the name of the original retailer J W Benson of London. The dial is in its original finish which has darkened over the years but still easy to read the time. Original hands (the infill has been removed over the years), subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute track.

J W Benson originated in 1847, founded by James William Benson and Samuel Suckley Benson. They were regarded as one of Victorian London’s most prestigious retail jewellers. The company flourished and proudly boasted an elite client base made up of both British and European royalty and a selection of well heeled industrialists and business figures including the King of Siam, the King of Portugal, the King of Denmark, the Emperor of Japan, the Tsar of Russia and the King of Greece. J W Benson also supplied watches to Queen Victoria and the Prince of Wales.
This particular watch has new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
