In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
There are four mahogany lined drawers to one side and four matching dummy drawers to the other. The interior is fitted with four small drawers and a large storage capacity. The davenport has two elegant carved supports and rests on its original turned feet with castors below.
The quality and condition are excellent and the figuring of the veneer is stunning. The walnut has developed a wonderful rich colour and the piece has been thoroughly cleaned and gently polished, retaining the original patina. The drawers run smoothly and the interior is generally clean and tidy. There are no major damages to the exterior. There are some signs of age, minor marks and small knocks but nothing detrimental and overall it is a lovely sturdy piece of furniture. Please note there are no keys with the davenport.
