Hobson May Collection has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The top of this stool retains its original wool needlepoint upholstery in tones of red and blue on a subtle green ground. The lower tier is covered in a vintage green silk in a similar shade. The condition of the stool is good, there are some signs of historic restoration and minor marks to the wood work on the legs and wear to the needlepoint, these are as can b e expected of an antique item and do not detract from the appearance of the stool, as can be clearly seen in the photographs. The stool is robust and sturdy and stands well with no wobbles.
A very decorative footstool with a useful lower tier for books or magazines, a practical and attractive addition to any room.
