19th Century Mahogany Gilt Metal Mounted Coal Box in the Regency Style

Description

An impressive mahogany coal box and brass shovel with reeded scroll handle and metal lining standing on gilt paw winged feet. The bowed cover is mounted with a classical mythological winged creature which encloses a swing handle in its mouth. The same creatures flank either side, together with acanthus leaves. The condition is good, this piece is in untouched condition, there a a few minor scratches, but as you can see from the photographs , these do not detract from the appearance of this superb box. A fabulous item to enhance any fireside.
