Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the Regency era.
To the sides are pretty 'basket of flowers' brass handles above the "fish-scale fretted side panels and It is supported on cast brass ball feet.

The eight-day movement strikes hours on a bell, and repeats the hours at will via the pull cord. The beautifully engineered precision pendulum is original and the backplate is engraved with the maker's name. The convex painted dial is also original; there is "Strike/Silent" control above "XII" and the fine gilded hands are original. An excellent Regency Bracket Clock by this eminent maker.

James McCabe, a well-known and highly regarded watch and clockmaker, worked in London from around 1790 until circa 1860. His finest quality clocks were signed in full (as in this instance); his second quality were signed simply:"McCabe" whilst his third quality work was signed: "Beatson".
