A truly fine and unusual Jewellery box, perfect for either a lady or a gentleman, French in origin and dating to the late nineteenth century, c.1890/1900.

It is a great look top quality brass fittings with a really stylish look, the two bands running from back to front are secured with large decorative fasteners to look like large screw heads, looking like a trunk. The curved ends are also framed with a quality brass brim.

The handle is exquisite toppped with a vacant cartouche mount to the centre. The box comes complete with the working key. Once opened, the front falls and allows access to two removable trays. The interior has been professionally re-lined to provide a clean fresh interior ready for another 100 years of use.

The top tray has six compartments and a long ring bank running along the centre which would accommodate 8 to 10 rings; the tray below has two long compartments, perfect for larger pieces or wrist watches.

The leather is a deep brownish Burgundy with an all over embossed diamond design.

A lovely piece in excellent condition measuring 11 3/4" x 7 3/4" x 5 1/4" tall to top of handle.
