London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
This is an antique, Edwardian davenport dating to the early 20th century, c.1910.

Expertly inlaid with garland and vase motif to the cupboard door, drawer front and stationery lid, panels are framed with boxwood stinging. The writing surface features a gold, twin tooled olive skiver.

The writing surface raises from horizontal and locks to a sloped angle for comfort – a button to the rear releasing it again. To the rear a lid lifts to reveal a stationery compartment complete with a removable pen tray, four compartments and a pair of glass ink wells with onyx lids.

Beneath the top a single, full width frieze drawer is dressed with elaborate brass handles with further storage in the cupboard below behind working lock and key.
Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
