Antique Victorian Taxidermy Pair of Red Squirrels

19th century
Description

A nice example of a pair of stuffed and mounted Red Squirrels dating from the late 19th Century. They have been very well preserved and mounted in a naturalistic setting in an almost comical standing position facing one another comparing the size of their nuts. They are in a good quality glass fronted pine case, perfect size for a mantle piece or shelf or for mounting on the wall.

They are in very good condition due to the protection the case has given them over the years. They have a thick covering of fur and although they have bleached slightly over time they still have a reasonably good red colouring. The background scenery is all in good condition too.

They have a certain charm about them that just makes you smile. A really lovely example and a fantastic piece to add to anybody's collection. Please have a good look at all the photos for the best description and if you have any questions please ask.

Collection from Ashburton, Devon or local delivery available. Nationwide delivery via courier can be arranged - please get in touch for an accurate quote. London likely to be around £30.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
