Pair of Scottish Boness Pottery Dogs of Staffordshire Type

19th century
Description

A pair of Staffordshire type pottery black and white spaniels dating from circa 1900, with painted features and glass eyes, manufactured by the Bridgeness factory in Barrowstouness (known as Bo'ness) in Scotland.

Although Victorian dogs and animals of this type are generally attributed to being of Staffordshire manufacture they were also produced in large numbers in the potteries of Bo'ness, Scotland - see www.bonesspottery.co.uk for an interesting history of pottery production in the area.

In excellent condition, with glass eyes and gilt highlights, no chips or restorations.
