In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
Each drawer has its original small turned knob. The central drawer's lock is stamped for Chubb's which were a good quality lock maker and would only have been used on exceptional pieces of furniture. It is also stamped 'maker's to Her Majesty' which helps to date the piece to the Victorian era.

It is a petite desk, suitable for a young person or small woman and the kneehole measures approximately 15" (38cm) wide x 22" (56cm) high.
The desk is in excellent condition and has been well looked after. It is strong and sturdy and has a lovely rich patina with some minor sun fading but nothing detrimental. The drawers open well and are generally clean and tidy inside with a few small marks and old ink stains. There are normal signs of age and use and a small chip around the arch of the kneehole and another small chip on the veneer on the corner of one drawer (see photos) but no major damages or anything detrimental. It has been cleaned and lightly polished and is ready for use.
