Hagenauer Style Art Deco Bronze Figure

Description

An interesting Art Deco BRONZE FIGURE of an African warrior very much in the style of Hagenauer. He stands on one leg holding a shield in his left hand and brandishing a long spear in the other. Signed to the base: "RR" and Austria. Somehow rather charming....

***The signature "BackwardR/ForwardR" has been for many years been accredited to Rena Rosenthal. However it is now thought this signature refers to work by Richard Rohac (1906-1956), Austrian designer and master metal craftsman.
