Mytton Antiques - Jerrard Nares has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The porter is cast as a dog, seated on his haunches, amongst leaves and foliage. Behind him rises scrolled leaves, looping to the top into a flowering bud, to form the handle. the whole on a serpentine plinth base. The rear lead loaded.
Height 14 1/4 inches, width 6 1/2 inches, depth 2 1/2 inches.
Date c 1840.
