M Lees and Sons has dated this piece to the 1850s.
High quality carved details throughout with gadrooned and fluted edges and reeded borders , the whole having achieved an exceptional colour and patina to the well-chosen figured timber. The ends with channel carved borders .

The interior fitted with a single adjustable shelf .
An interesting colonially-made decorative side cabinet of practical proportions, which would add an exotic accent to a period interior.
NB An almost identical cabinet is illustrated and discussed in "Furniture from British India & Ceylon " by Dr. Amin Jaffer p. 338 no. 154.
