Victorian Antique Silver Double Stamp Box – 1895

19th century
Description

Standing on a raised base and of oblong form, this superb VICTORIAN STERLING SILVER STAMP BOX has an all over raised ridge pattern.

Inside, the box is divided into two compartments for holding stamps and these have sloping bases to allow the stamps to be removed easily. The original gilt coating is still present and the sprung lid closes properly.

Made by the well-known and sought after silversmiths of Deakin & Francis in 1895, this stunning Stamp Box is free from any added initials, monograms or engravings and is in excellent condition despite being over 120 years old.

Condition:

Used / Excellent

There is no damage and no repairs.

Some minor staining to the gilt in one compartment – nothing much but mentioned for accuracy.

2.5” (63mm) x 1.75” (44mm) x 1.5” (38mm)
