~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~

A large and magnificent ormolu (finely gilded bronze) and Sevres style porcelain clock by renown maker Achille Brocot. The porcelain has a beautiful pale green ground and is very finely decorated with the most delightful floral swags, butterflies and a cherub to the dial. It is classical in style with sweeping acanthus brackets with porcelain roundels, swan neck pediment with the porcelain mounted urn draped with acanthus swags. Ormolu is resplendent in it's original and bright gilding.

The large square dial is porcelain with finely cut brass hands. Please note that this style of clock does not have a glass bezel or a rear door to the case.

The French movement is by Achille Brocot and is of superb quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. It is fitted with a dead-beat escapement and rack striking. Pendulum is a original and also has the Achille Brocot mark. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell.

Achille Brocot was a member of the renowned Brocot clockmaking family, the eldest son of Louis Gabriel Brocot. He was treasurer to La Société des Horlogers in Paris and was awarded First Class Medal at the 1855 Paris Exhibition - Tardy, Dictionnaire des Horlogers.

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with just some slight discolouration and wear, mainly to the rear of the case. The porcelain is in excellent condition, just some wear to the dial half hour markers.

Achille Brocot mark on the movement backplate.

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
