Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The wood is mainly kingwood & satin birch, however there are other woods too. The marble top is original & in good condition. There are some fine quality gilt bronze mounts & escutcheons. This piece has two drawers above & below the pull down section. When opened the inside writing section is magnificent with many drawers & a single cupboard in the middle. I can’t decide whether it looks better open or closed. The tapered legs too are satin birch, with kingwood cross banding. I would date this cabinet to around the 1890-1910 period. The attention to detail the cabinet maker has used in making this product is amazing. Please enlarge all the images to appreciate all the fine details.
